How to cut waste costs

Probably the most exciting post you will ever have to read.

There are 3 things certain in life: DEATH, TAXES & WASTE.

Why dont any of those things get us excited?

Handling your business waste is a neccesity we have to do (and legally obliged) but as a business owner it is probably 4,372 on your to do list. Its not exciting but if you sit down and review what you currently do you will see the benefits to your business instead of it just being another thing that needs doing.

Can you cut your waste costs by half? Many of our customers have.

Firstly, where do you start on "how to cust waste costs"

Review your waste streams. What type of waste do you have? How often is it collected? what type of bins/skips/machines do I use already?

An easy guide and to help you with this can be found on our waste audit page.

Now you know where you are starting, you can see where you can go.

REDUCE

Is their any waste you can reduce? i.e. could your supplier reduce any packaging

REUSE

Can anything be reused by your company or local groups near you?

RECYCLE

Can you split the waste so it can be recycled? check what can be recycled here

RECOVERY

can any energy be recovered (see above link)

LANDFILL

The last resort.

Now, no-one wants to sit down and go through all their waste. You dont have too. The easiest way to do this is to contact your exisitng waste company. Most should offer a free waste review. If they dont. Try www.beatmywastequote.com

What do you want to achieve?

Lower waste bills?

Better waste management?

Earn an income from your waste?

Be greener?

Hopefully it is all of the above. It makes sense. Depending on the amount and type of waste you have, it could actually become cash positive for your business.

you have probably heard (or maybe just us oldies)

WHERE THERE'S TRASH, THERE'S CASH

Other companies want your recycleable waste. Cardboard, plastics, metals, paper etc etc.

There is value in this. See here for up to date prices for recycleable materials.

The best way to increase the value of your materials is to bale them. (here comes the sales pitch)

British Balers supply (my biased view but backed up with 100's of customers agreement) high quality machines at reasonable prices. Buying British is not expensive.

With the right machine for you, it can:

Decrease your waste bills

Improve your waste management

Earn you some revenue

Make your business greener

What system is right for you?

There is no 100% perfect system in my view. What we can do is review what you want to achieve, what works and doesnt work and layout some options.

Contact one of our waste advisors for more details and a free waste audit review.
