What to look for in a baler supplier

The options availalbe when picking a baler supplier is endless.

The most popular places that manufacture balers are Ireland, Germany, Britain, China and USA.

When picking a manufacturer you need to check the following:

Reliability: Everyone knows a story of someone who think they got a bargain upfront, only to pay for it many times due to breakdowns and problems. Make sure the parts are readily availalbe and the supplier has a good track record.

Price: Prices can vary especially if you are looking at the 2nd hand market. Like everything, you can always get a bargain one day but most of the time you get what you pay for. Typical baler prices are £8-10k for a mill size baler and £2-3k for a small baler.

Warranty: All UK suppliers generally include a 1 year warranty with new machines. 2nd hand ones will vary from 0-6 months. Check if the supplier has engineers in your area to give you a quick response. Extended warranties are availalbe from most reputable suppliers at a cost.

Useability: Operating a baler will have to be someones job to operate the machine. Most machines are semi automatic in their use. You dont want staff having to stand there to operate the machine longer than what they should. Also check how quick the machine is.

Longevity: A baler can last over 15 years if serviced and maintained properly. check if your baler supplier has a track record. Things to look out for - quality and thickness of the steel used, quality and reliability of main parts such as motors, pumps and electrics.

Safety: UK standards are some of the highest in the world. Make sure machines are CE certified and have a safe record for users.
