How to recycle tyres

In the UK we dispose of 48 million tyres per year which causes a major problem but also creates a very big oppurtunity.

Since 2003 tyres have been banned from lanfill so alternative uses and recycling methods have had to be used and the technology involved has improved greatly over the past few years.

Using shredders and pyrolisis system old tyres can be turned back into new rubber or the shredded crumb can be reused in a variety of applications such as childrens play areas and fuel in cement kilns.

The purchase price and operating costs for these large shredders etc can be in the millions. They are becoming more popular around the world as the technology has improved over recent years but they still have the same problem of getting enough tyres to the 1 location.

Tyre baling has helped solve this issue as now, like many other materials a tyre baler can heavily condense the space required to ship and transport tyres. A tyre baler will place about 70 tyres into a neat bale which can easily be transported and shipped.

A tyre baler from British Balers has been designed to cope with the immense force tyres have on a typical baler. A standard baler for cardboard and plastics will not stand the force over a period a time. By upgrading our powerpacks and using thickened and strengthed steel our balers will stnad the pressure over time. The bales are approx 1150mm x 750mm x 1600mm and weigh approx 700kgs.
